Balblair 00 (No Box)

In the 1960's, Balbair Scotch Whisky was introduced to the market without a specific vintage or age statement. Critics described the 2005 vintage as "bright golden" with a "sweet, toasty" aroma and a "mineral, bitter" flavor. The 2000 edition (1st release) of Balblair, which was released in September 2010, is a superb whisky, aged for approximately 10 years. Its style is reminiscent of its northern neighbor, Highland Park, with a distinct honey scent, cereal undertones, delicate floral notes, and a finish of citrus and Sherry. A hint of sweet nougat and campfire smoke add depth to this pale, greenish gold whiskey. Bottled at 43% abv.

Nose: Light and summery with hints of aniseed, strawberry, red apple, and sherry. Floral notes and a sweet honey scent.

Palate: Smooth and complex with flavors of highland toffee, red apple, liquorice root, and strawberry. Balanced with citrus and Sherry influences, and a touch of sweet nougat.

Finish: Medium to long, with lingering citrus, Sherry, and a hint of campfire smoke. Floral and sweet notes persist.

Overall: Balblair 2000, 1st Release, is a superb Highland whisky, offering a delicate balance of sweetness, fruitiness, and subtle smokiness in its pale gold profile.
