BenRiach distillery, located in Speyside, Scotland, was acquired by Brown-Forman Corporation on June 1, 2016, from the BenRiach Distillery Company Limited, founded by Geoff Bell, Wayne Keiswetter, and whisky expert Billy Walker. The distillery expanded its portfolio in 2008 with the addition of Glendronach distillery.
This 16 Year Old from the BenRiach distillery is matured in American bourbon barrels and then finished in claret wine barrels sourced from the Bordeaux region in the south-west of France. Bottled at 46%.
Nose: Rich red berries, oak spice, vanilla, and subtle earthiness.
Palate: Full-bodied with ripe berries, dark chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Claret wine cask adds plum, blackcurrant, and spice.
Finish: Long and balanced with fruit compote, oak tannins, and a hint of cinnamon.
