Adelphi Ardmore 2016 7 Year Old Oloroso Cask

Ardmore 2016 7 Year Old Oloroso Cask #1051 – Adelphi is a limited single-cask Highland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled at Ardmore in 2016 and bottled by independent bottler Adelphi in 2024. Matured for seven years in a refill Oloroso sherry butt, Cask #1051 was bottled at a powerful 61.1% ABV with an outturn of only 634 bottles. It was released at natural colour and without chill filtration. 700ml.

The refill Oloroso cask complements rather than overwhelms Ardmore’s naturally peated spirit, creating an earthy and savoury profile with smoke, sherry, nuts and subtle meaty notes. At cask strength, the whisky shows considerable intensity, while a small amount of water brings forward additional peat, fruit and sweetness.

With its single-cask provenance, 61.1% cask strength and 634-bottle outturn, this Adelphi Selection offers strong appeal for enthusiasts and collectors of independently bottled Ardmore.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Earthy peat and ash with briny coastal notes, nuts and tobacco, followed by lemon, caramel and subtle barbecue smoke.

Palate: Powerful and savoury with peat smoke, caramel and sweet malt, developing citrus peel, white pepper and gentle Oloroso sherry richness.

Finish: Long and warming with smoke, ash, earthy peat and peppery spice. A drop of water reveals sweeter fruit, toffee and additional smoky depth.
