Amrut Portonova Old Bottling (Early Release)

Amrut Portonova – 700ml, 62.1% ABV is a powerful Indian single malt whisky from Amrut Distillery in Bengaluru, renowned for its innovative triple-stage maturation process and exceptionally rich flavour profile.

This distinctive expression from one of the earlier releases (We estimate around 2014-2016), is matured in a combination of new American oak and ex-bourbon casks, transferred into Portuguese port wine pipes, and finally returned to ex-bourbon oak for further maturation.

The result is an intensely flavoured whisky combining rich red fruits, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla and warming oak spice.

Bottled at a formidable 62.1% ABV, this whisky delivers a bold, full-bodied experience with layers of ripe plums, raisins, berry compote, toasted oak and sweet malt.

The port cask influence adds luxurious fruit sweetness and complexity, while the final bourbon maturation helps balance the whisky's rich wine character with vanilla and oak spice.

Amrut Portonova is an impressive example of Indian single malt craftsmanship, offering collectors and enthusiasts a distinctive high-strength whisky with a complex maturation history.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Stewed apples, ripe plums, raisins, red berries, rich caramel and toasted oak, with hints of vanilla and citrus peel.

Palate: Full-bodied and richly textured, with raspberry jam, dark cherries, dried fruits, cinnamon, toffee, cocoa and warming oak spice.

Finish: Long and powerful, with lingering dark chocolate, port-influenced fruit sweetness, muscovado sugar and drying oak.
