Ardbeg 8 For Discussion Single Malt Peated Scotch Whisky
A boisterous young expression from Ardbeg, this 8 year old single malt whisky was produced to be deliberately challenging, originally released as an exclusive for members of the Ardbeg Committee. Bottled at 50.8% ABV (Bottle size 700ml)
Nose: Equal parts creamy oak and peat smoke (hey, that rhymed!) to start. There’s a faint touch of licorice as well as some underripe stone fruit notes of peaches A little toasted and buttered brioche note and there’s vaguely maritime suggestions of iodine and saline.
Palete: A light mouthfeel, quietly introducing subtle woody and ashy notes. It reaches its peak mid-palate, where a nutty flavor blends with dry wood and a hint of creosote.
Finish: Faint lemon, chalk, and old smoke.
