Ardbeg Hypernova Committee Release is one of the most extreme expressions ever produced by the legendary Islay distillery. Released exclusively to Ardbeg Committee members in 2022, this limited-edition single malt is billed by the distillery as "the smokiest Ardbeg ever to mature into existence." Bottled at 51.0% ABV, non-chill filtered and crafted with an astonishing 170+ PPM malt specification, Hypernova delivers an explosive combination of intense peat smoke, tar, creosote and medicinal notes balanced by surprising layers of dark chocolate, aniseed and citrus. Produced in very limited quantities, it has become one of the most collectible modern Ardbeg Committee Releases.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Powerful tar, creosote, bonfire smoke, sea salt, aniseed, dark chocolate, burnt citrus peel and medicinal peat.

Palate: Explosive peat smoke, charcoal, black pepper, liquorice, bitter chocolate, smoked herbs, brine and subtle vanilla sweetness.

Finish: Exceptionally long with lingering ash, coal smoke, black pepper, sea spray, burnt oak and dark cocoa.
