Ardbeg Supernova Committee Release
Ardbeg Supernova Committee Release
This 2014 release from Ardbeg’s Committee Series brings back the legendary Supernova, originally launched in 2009 and renowned as one of the peatiest whiskies ever created—a reputation that this edition upholds. Made with 100ppm malt, significantly more than Ardbeg's standard 55ppm, this Supernova delivers an intense peat experience. Bottled at 55% ABV, it’s a powerhouse for peat lovers.
Nose: A bold explosion of smoky citrus, with notes of smoked lemons and pears, enhanced by lemongrass and pine needles. Adding water releases a billow of aromatic smoke, blending with earthy peat, heather root, and applewood-smoked cheese.
Palate: Initial gentle warmth escalates into a peppery, spicy, and electrifying sensation. The peaty core is surrounded by strong peppermint and antiseptic lozenges. Dark birch tar intertwines with the sweet heat of chili-flavored chocolate, all wrapped in linseed oil.
Finish: Deep flavors of tar, creosote, briar wood, spicy tobacco, and liquorice root leave an aftertaste that seems to last forever.
