Ardnamurchan AD/Mezcal Cask Release 2025 is an innovative, limited-edition Highland single malt Scotch whisky that brings together traditional Scottish peat smoke and the distinctive herbal character of Mexican mezcal casks.

Released in March 2025, this exceptional expression marks Ardnamurchan Distillery's first-ever Mezcal Cask Release, demonstrating the distillery's adventurous approach to maturation and flavour development.

Produced exclusively from peated spirit distilled in 2017, the whisky was initially matured for six years in a selection of 19 ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing an extended finishing period of more than 18 months in casks previously used to mature mezcal, Mexico's celebrated agave spirit.

The result is a fascinating combination of Highland whisky character and unconventional cask influence.

On the nose, fresh green apples, green bananas and grassy herbal aromas mingle with resilient ash-like peat smoke. The palate develops into a rich, textured experience, revealing eucalyptus, coastal minerality, olive brine, salty capers and fresh herbs.

The finish is beautifully integrated, with lingering wisps of smoke, creamy sweetness and earthy depth.

Bottled at a robust 55% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring, Ardnamurchan Mezcal Cask retains its natural character and full-bodied texture.

Strictly limited to 4,968 bottles worldwide, this distinctive 2025 release offers collectors and whisky enthusiasts an opportunity to experience one of Ardnamurchan's most unusual cask experiments.

A compelling addition to collections of limited-edition Highland single malts, peated Scotch whisky and innovative cask-finished expressions.
