The stunning second batch of Balvenie's Tun 1401, named after the favourite marrying tun of Balvenie's malt master, David Stewart. This is made using sherry and bourbon wood aged whiskies from the latter part of the 1960s up to the late 1980s. Bottled at 50.6% ABV
Nose: Sweet and rich with tropical fruits, coconut, vanilla and marzipan, followed by leather, dates, cinnamon, rose petal jelly and gentle barrel char.
Palate: Oaky and fruity with nectarine, acacia honey and custard, alongside cocoa, walnut and a touch of apple sauce.
Finish: Good length with lingering honey, warming spices and caramelised orange zest.
