Benromach Chateau Cissac 2010

A cracking limited edition whisky from Benromach bottled as part of the Wood Finish series. Matured in first fill ex-bourbon then finished for two years in ex-Château Cissac Bordeaux wine casks. The influence of the two cask types really shines through in this bottling. There’s tropical fruits and hints of strawberries on the nose followed by creamy milk chocolate, cherry and nutmeg flavours with a hint of signature Benromach smokiness.

Bottled at 45% ABV (Bottle size 700ml)

Nose: Classic Benromach peat smoke and sweetness, with a barbecue-esque meatiness, accompanied by blueberries, plums and dark cherries. There’s some soft notes of stewed pears in the background.

Palete: A whiff of pepper with lingering smoke and soot, as well as fried bacon and milk chocolate. Not very fruity, yet there’s a hint of maraschino cherries here.

Finish: Lingering barbecue smoke, a touch of peat and some charred orange peel.
