Benromach Hermitage Wine Cask Finish is a distinctive Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from the acclaimed Benromach Distillery, combining traditional Scottish whisky craftsmanship with the rich influence of French red wine casks.

Produced under the ownership of renowned independent whisky specialist Gordon & MacPhail, this expression forms part of Benromach's celebrated Wood Finish series, which explored the influence of carefully selected wine casks on the distillery's traditional Speyside character.

Initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, the whisky undergoes additional maturation in oak casks previously used for red wine from the prestigious Hermitage appellation in France's northern Rhône Valley.

Hermitage is particularly celebrated for its powerful, elegant Syrah-based red wines. The wine-seasoned oak introduces layers of ripe cherries, red berries, dark chocolate and gentle tannins, beautifully complementing Benromach's honeyed malt, vanilla sweetness and delicate peat smoke.

Bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml presentation, this expression offers a richly textured yet balanced drinking experience, with fruit-forward complexity, warming spice and a subtle smoky undertone.

The historical Wood Finish series is especially appealing to collectors interested in Benromach's earlier experimental maturation releases.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe red apples, cherries, red berries and citrus peel, accompanied by vanilla, cinnamon and delicate peat smoke.

Palate: Rich and rounded, with sweet red fruits, dark chocolate, creamy vanilla, toasted oak and gentle wine-cask tannins. Subtle smoke adds complexity.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering red fruit, cocoa, oak spice, honey and a delicate smoky note.
