Flora and Fauna Blair Athol 12
Flora and Fauna Blair Athol 12
Launched as part of Diageo's now discontinued Flora & Fauna range. Created in the early 1990s by United Distillers Vintners (what would later become Diageo), this range initially had no name and it was only when famous whisky writer Michael Jackson nicknamed it the 'Flora and Fauna' series (after the bottles’ wildlife themed labels) did it stick. This Blair Athol 12yo release is one of the few official bottlings produced from the Highland distillery. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 700ml)
Nose: Muscat grapes and Madeira wine, brimstone in the background, even tar. Dried apricots in the foreground, and treacle toffee.
Palate: Rich and mouth-filling, with a good balance.
Finish: A curious sweetness is introduced at the end after the acidity and dryish finish has passed.
