Sazerac 18 Year Old Straight Rye – Fall 2008 – Buffalo Trace Antique Collection – 750ml 45% ABV is a highly collectible Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey from the prestigious Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC).

The Fall 2008 release came from rye whiskey distilled in Spring 1985 and aged in new charred American white oak. The remaining mature whiskey was subsequently transferred to stainless-steel tanks to prevent further oak maturation, and this preserved stock supplied annual Sazerac 18 releases through 2015. For the 2008 release, 28 barrels were selected, with the whiskey bottled at the traditional Sazerac 18 strength of 90 proof / 45% ABV. The original 2008 technical information specifies new white oak barrels with a #4 char and records a substantial 54.08% evaporation loss during maturation. Straight Bourbon

Tasting Notes

Nose: Mature rye spice with deep oak, molasses and dark caramel, accompanied by dried fruit and subtle leather.

Palate: Rich and mature with toffee, rye spice and dark fruit, developing seasoned oak, coffee, tobacco and warming spice.

Finish: Long and oak-driven with lingering rye spice, red fruit, caramel and mature wood.
