Caol Ila 2010 10 Year Old Artist Collective – NWW Exclusive is a highly limited single-cask Islay single malt Scotch whisky, selected by La Maison du Whisky as part of its Artist Collective series and released exclusively for Navigate World Whisky (NWW) in South Africa.

Distilled at Caol Ila in 2010 and matured for 10 years in a refill sherry butt, the whisky was bottled at 48% ABV in a 750ml format. Most importantly, this specific NWW release was drawn from a single cask with an outturn of only 692 bottles, distinguishing it from other Caol Ila Artist Collective releases with larger outturns. The South African release information specifically identifies it as a “Single Cask, Refill Sherry Butt” and an NWW exclusive.

The refill sherry butt provides additional richness without obscuring Caol Ila’s distinctive distillery character. Expect maritime peat smoke, citrus and mineral notes complemented by dried fruit, dark chocolate, spice and savoury sherry character. With just 692 bottles produced, this South African exclusive is an unusual and collectible independent Caol Ila release.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh maritime peat and coastal smoke with lemon and citrus peel, followed by dried fruit, dark berries, subtle chocolate and mineral notes.

Palate: Balanced peat smoke and sweet malt with dried fruits, citrus and dark chocolate, developing pepper, coastal salinity and savoury sherry notes.

Finish: Long and smoky with lingering peat, dark fruit, cocoa, gentle spice and a mineral, maritime character.
