Chivas Regal 12 Year Old – 1990s Seagram Bottling is a vintage blended Scotch whisky produced by Chivas Brothers during the period when the company was owned by Seagram. Specialist auction records document multiple Chivas Regal 12 Year Old bottles from this era, including Seagram-market versions estimated to have been bottled during the 1990s.

Chivas Regal 12 is a blend of mature malt and grain Scotch whiskies, all aged for a minimum of 12 years. Older Seagram-era bottlings are particularly interesting to collectors because they represent an earlier production and blending period, before Chivas Brothers became part of Pernod Ricard in the early 2000s. Strathisla has historically been an important malt at the heart of the Chivas house style.

The older 1990s expression offers the classic Chivas profile of honey, orchard fruit, vanilla and creamy malt, with gentle spice, oak and restrained smoke. For collectors of vintage blended Scotch, the Seagram connection and discontinued 1990s presentation are important distinguishing features.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Honey, ripe apple and pear with vanilla, caramel and soft floral notes, followed by malt and gentle oak.

Palate: Smooth and rounded with honeyed cereal, orchard fruit and vanilla, developing toffee, nuts, orange peel and warming spice.

Finish: Medium and mellow with lingering honey, malt, soft oak and a subtle smoky character.
