Launched in 2015, Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold is said to have been inspired by the cold climate in the remote part of Scotland where Dalwhinnie (Scotland's highest and coldest distillery) whisky is distilled. Created using only casks laid down in the Scottish winter months. Bottled at 43%. 700ml
Nose: Sweet, honeyed and dessert-like with fragrant and smooth waxiness. Fruit, caramel tart with sweet shortcrust pastry offset by orange zest.
Palate: Ripe autumn-fruit tartness with growing spiciness and gingerbread; then denser with rich malt loaf, molasses and mint.
Finish: Comforting with a pleasingly chewy conclusion. Smooth with sweet malt, raisins and dark chocolate. Growing lightly aromatic, too, with hints of dates and sandalwood.
