Glenglassaugh 1966 45 Year Old – Rare Cask Series – 750ml 49.2% ABV is an exceptionally rare, long-aged Highland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1966 and bottled in 2011 after 45 years of maturation.

This remarkable release was matured in a refill sherry hogshead and bottled at its natural cask strength of 49.2% ABV. Production was extremely limited, with only 202 crystal decanters released worldwide.

Presented as part of Glenglassaugh’s Rare Cask Series – Aged Over 40 Years Old, the whisky captures a particularly important period in the distillery’s history. Its extended sherry-cask maturation delivers remarkable depth, combining mature dark fruit, old oak, citrus, leather and spice with tropical fruit and earthy complexity.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Deep and complex with marmalade, dried fruit and prune, developing old leather, cedar, cigar leaf and mature oak.

Palate: Rich sherry character with dark fruit and old orange, followed by toasted oak, warming spice, cedar, nutmeg and earthy complexity.

Finish: Exceptionally long and concentrated with dark fruit, gripping oak, sherry richness and lingering black pepper.
