Hazelburn 13 Oloroso 2020

Hazelburn 13 Oloroso 2020 is the only unpeated, triple distilled Springbank spirit, in a somewhat lighter style. Since 2017 there tends to be a limited Oloroso Cask version. I was impressed by the 2018 edition so let’s see how the September 2020 release compares. Bottled at 50.3% (Bottle size 700ml)

Nose: Earthy with walnut oil, leather, tobacco, orange peel, chocolate, and light gunpowder hints.

Palete: Sweet demerara sugar, dried fig, sweet plums, mocha, caramel nuts, leather, dark chocolate, and peppery notes, ending with blood orange.

Finish: Long with herbal and spicy notes, coffee beans, brown sugar, and dusty wood.

This whisky balances sweet, earthy, and spicy flavors with a rich complexity.
