Jameson Gold Reserve Special Reserve is a discontinued premium Irish whiskey from John Jameson & Son, representing an earlier generation of the celebrated Jameson Gold Reserve range.

Produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland, this distinctive expression combines traditional Irish pot still whiskey with carefully selected grain whiskey, showcasing the rich yet elegant character for which Jameson became internationally renowned.

A defining feature of Jameson Gold Reserve is its use of virgin oak casks, alongside ex-bourbon and sherry-seasoned oak. This combination introduces additional depth, structure and sweetness, distinguishing the expression from the classic Jameson blend.

Triple distillation contributes to a smooth and refined spirit, while the varied oak maturation creates layers of toasted vanilla, honey, caramel, dried fruit and warming spice.

On the palate, Gold Reserve delivers a rich, creamy texture with notes of butterscotch, toasted wood, ripe orchard fruits and gentle pot still spice, followed by a beautifully balanced finish.

The original Gold Special Reserve presentation belongs to an earlier period of Jameson's premium whiskey history, before the range underwent subsequent packaging changes and was eventually discontinued.

Tasting Notes

Finish: Medium to long, with lingering honey, sweet oak, vanilla and a gentle peppery warmth.
