Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2022

Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2022 Edition is the annual limited-edition, fully sherry-matured expression from Kilchoman Distillery on Islay. The 2022 release was matured exclusively in 22 Oloroso sherry butts sourced from Bodega José y Miguel Martín—20 fresh first-fill and 2 refill casks—and bottled at 46% ABV.

The selected casks ranged from 8 to 14 years old, combining youthful freshness with some of the oldest whisky used in recent Loch Gorm releases at the time. The result balances rich Oloroso-driven dark fruits, chocolate and spice with Kilchoman’s characteristic citrus sweetness and earthy Islay peat smoke.

Only 17,250 bottles were produced, making the 2022 edition a desirable discontinued release for collectors building a vertical collection of Kilchoman’s annual Loch Gorm series.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet pipe smoke, fresh strawberries and candied lemon peel with orange blossom, soft toffee and cloves.

Palate: Dark chocolate and toasted walnuts with gentle tobacco, caramel and dates, followed by warming peat smoke and rich sherry fruit.

Finish: Long and evolving with cinnamon, liquorice, bitter chocolate and lingering earthy smoke.
