Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength

Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength 2024 is a limited-edition Islay single malt that presents the distillery’s popular sherry-driven Sanaig at its natural 57.8% ABV. Released in late 2024, it follows the same recipe as standard Sanaig but is bottled at cask strength rather than being reduced to 46% ABV. Bottle size 750ml.

The whisky combines Oloroso sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels, including Oloroso sherry hogshead finishes and fully sherry-matured whisky. The overall cask influence is approximately 70% Oloroso sherry and 30% bourbon, bringing rich cooked fruits, dark sweetness and spice together with Kilchoman’s distinctive Islay peat smoke. The malt is peated to approximately 50 PPM.

Produced in limited quantities, Sanaig Cask Strength offers a considerably more intense interpretation of the regular Sanaig and is particularly appealing to collectors and enthusiasts of heavily peated, sherry-influenced Islay whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Toffee sweetness, dark fruits and ripe red berries with smoked oak, citrus peel and warming peat smoke.

Palate: Intense and full-bodied with dark chocolate, raisins, liquorice and rich cooked fruits, followed by spice and powerful yet balanced peat smoke.

Finish: Long and rich with lingering fruit sweetness, warming spices and integrated Islay smoke.
