17 Year Old Blended Malt – Notable Age Statements by Decadent Drinks is a richly sherried blended malt Scotch whisky, released in 2023 as part of Decadent Drinks’ Notable Age Statements series. The range was created around a deliberately simple idea: age statements still matter, particularly when paired with high-quality maturation. This17-year-old combines two mature sherry-cask components: a 2001-vintage blended malt matured in a first-fill sherry butt and 2006-vintage Aultmore single malt, also matured in a first-fill sherry butt. The resulting multi-vintage blend was given only a slight reduction before bottling at a robust 53% ABV. Decadent Drinks describes the aim as recreating an older-style, sherry-matured malt profile with an emphasis on fruit, earthy sherry character and easy drinkability. 700ml

Rich sherry, dried fruit, chocolate and baking spice dominate, balanced by mature oak and the malty, fruity character of the underlying whiskies. Now listed by Decadent Drinks as an archived release, it is an appealing bottle for collectors of independent Scotch and sherry-matured blended malts.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sherry-soaked oak, caramelised brown sugar and baking spices with dark chocolate and dried fruit.

Palate: Rich mocha and sherried raisins with orange peel, nutmeg and mature malt, supported by warming oak and spice.

Finish: Warming and persistent with dried apricot, spiced fruit, baked sweetness and lingering sherry character.
