Single & Single Caol Ila 10 Year Old

A single cask release from the Caol Ila distillery in Islay, from South African based independent bottler Single & Single (S&S). Distilled in 2010, matured in a first-fill American oak hogshead and bottled in 2021. Only 216 bottles were produced. Bottled at a cask strength of 54.6%.

Nose: Rich sooty and warming smoke, lots of bright green apples and tart gooseberries. Hints of old lobster pots, rusting harbour apparatus and old tin cans of paint. A slightly tarry note develops into sweeter liquorice and aniseed.

Palate: A delicious mouthfeel. Wonderfully balanced warming, sooty smoke intertwines with sweet liquorice, sharp menthol and eucalyptus. An exquisitely fragrant fusion of peppermint and lapsang souchong tea.

Finish: Long and smoky, but mellowed with sweet menthol and star anise notes.
