SMWS Spanish Splendour

SMWS Spanish Splendour is a 10-year-old Speyside release from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, crafted through a complex combination of cask types to deliver richness and balance.

Distilled on 10 September 2013, this expression was matured in a mix of 1st-fill American and Spanish oak oloroso hogsheads, alongside refill bourbon hogsheads. This multi-cask approach creates a layered whisky, combining sherried depth with vanilla sweetness and structural elegance.

Expect a profile rich in dried fruits, warming spice, and subtle oak influence, supported by a smooth and approachable character. The oloroso casks bring depth and indulgence, while the bourbon casks add brightness and lift.

With a large outturn of 2,264 bottles, this release is more accessible than typical SMWS single casks, making it an excellent entry point into the Society’s style without compromising on flavour.
